Mitchell ready for challenge
Glen Mccullough | 29th January 2011

THE rich Scottish accent, passion and work ethic haven’t wavered but the challenge will be a new one for Richard Mitchell as he returns to Toowoomba to help nurture football in the region.
The man known affectionately as “Mr Magic” is back in the city where he began his professional coaching career 21 years ago to take up the position of South West Queensland football development manager.

Brown ready to fill big shoes as new Rovers boss
Griffith Thomas | 24th January 2011

FOR four seasons running Rochedale have been the team to beat.
A modern-day footballing juggernaut that has powered to three of the last four premierships on offer, the Rovers boast a phenomenal win percentage of 74.46 per cent during their dynasty.
To suggest the men from Underwood Park can’t do it again this year is nonsensical, but there’s no doubt 2011 throws up some new challenges.
In a shock postscript to last season’s convincing championship win, long-time boss Kieran Cooper resigned as head coach.
The man filling Cooper’s big shoes this year is Tim Brown.

Centre of excellence hosts trials
29th January 2011
IPSWICH is about to take its next step to establishing itself as a stand alone region in Queensland football.
The first round of trials for the Ipswich Football Centre Of Excellence is on February 7 and 9, with the pick of the crop getting the chance to play in their respective Brisbane Division One age groups.
That will be the Ipswich Knights for boys under 12, 13 and 14 and most likely the Western Spirit for girls under 14 and Ipswich City for girls under 16.
The plan is to develop, through these teams, the best young footballers in Ipswich to be ready when, hopefully, Ipswich is admitted into the Junior Premier League, the top club competition in south east Queensland.
