The top two clash at Underwood Park with Wolves out to try and claim a second consecutive grand final spot. The winner of the tie goes straight into the grand final and with a whopping 18 days gap until the final the winner will have quite a rest. Wolves lost at Rochedale 6-0 earlier this season but games between the two prior to then have been much closer. Drew Jeskey could be the key, as the American defensive midfielder was missed when he was substituted with 20 minutes left of that 6-0 game; when Jeskey left the field Wolves were only down 2-0.
The four other sides are battling for a chance to play the loser of the Rochedale Wolves tie. Easts host Olympic whilst Capalaba host Power. The winners play next Wednesday for the right to play the Rochedale Wolves loser for a grand final place.
YourBPL.com has always struggled to see the point in finals in Divisions 1 and 2. North Pine, UQ, Southside Eagles and Moggill already have the sweet taste of promotion, and so the finals series tends to be won by teams outside the top 2. You’ll forgive us for not focusing too much on these finals series.
I’ll be at Rochedale tonight, providing updates for the Sports Lounge on 101FM. I’ll link up with Blanchy and Phil on the Football Brisbane Show from 9pm onwards…traffic permitting.
